Smith Center Natatorium Renovations consisted of a complete renovation to the existing indoor pool room. The existing pool room was experiencing extreme moisture problems resulting in premature deterioration of existing HVAC systems, lighting systems, window framing, & roof structural steel. The renovation included an entirely new HVAC system with dehumidification capabilities and fabric duct air distribution system and a new indirect lighting system. Roof structural steel was sandblasted to remove existing rust damage and then rust-proofed and painted. All windows and casements were replaced. The HVAC system was designed to maintain temperature and humidity to provide an acceptable and comfortable environment for the swimmers and spectators while preventing condensation on the building surfaces through all seasons of the year. The MEP design team coordinated closely with architectural and structural design teams and coordinated with the construction team to minimize down time of the pool and to help provide a well executed construction phase and successful finished project.
